Online Full-Time Faculty (Open Rank)


 


The School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at TAEJAE University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in related fields. This is a three-year, renewable non-tenure track position, and the appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor will be considered based on the candidate's experience.  




 We are especially looking for passionate educators who are interested in pushing the boundaries of higher education. TAEJAE University, a brand-new undergraduate college based in Seoul, South Korea, seeks to cultivate tomorrow's global leaders through its innovative curriculum. Our students from around the world engage in diverse academic and co-curricular activities founded on active learning philosophy, rotating through TAEJAE’s global residential colleges. All courses are taught through small, interactive online seminars in English, and faculty members have the flexibility to teach from anywhere in the world.




 The new faculty members will be responsible for teaching major core and elective courses online starting in the Fall of 2024. Courses open in the first year include the followings:




 






  • Design of AI and Data-driven Services (Fall 2024)








  • Computational Thinking and Data Literacy (Fall 2024)








  • Experimental Design and Statistics (Fall 2024)








  • Database Design and Management (Spring 2025)








  • Computer Algebra and Symbolic Computation (Spring 2025)








  • Data Analytics & Visualization (Spring 2025)








  • Machine Learning and Deep Learning (Spring 2025)






 




They will also have the opportunity to teach special and capstone seminars online based on their expertise and teaching interests. The standard teaching load will be three courses per semester (3-3), but there will be a course release in the first year for the preparation of courses. Other responsibilities may include mentoring students, contributing to curriculum design, participating in faculty workshops, and serving on academic/administrative committees.




 The starting salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and credentials. Faculty members at TAEJAE University also receive various benefits, including an annual comprehensive medical check-up service in Korea and essential remote work equipment such as a computer and a headset.




The anticipated start date is early-July 2024 (negotiable), and new faculty members are expected to participate in online faculty workshops for active learning and course development during the summer. There is no residency requirement for faculty members, and the university will cover all expenses for travel and accommodation when attending school events in South Korea.

Qualifications






BASIC Qualifications




  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Data Science, or other relevant fields, or advancement to candidacy by the time of application




  • Capable of teaching two or more of the above-mentioned major core and elective courses







PREFERRED Qualifications




  • Successful instructional experience at the undergraduate level




  • Professional experience in industry or research institutions




  • Strong commitment to active learning pedagogies and a willingness to explore new teaching methods/technologies




  • Demonstrated success in supervising students in research projects and other experiential learning settings




  • Proven experience in curricular design/planning, including the development of innovative and engaging course materials, assignments, and assessments




  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students and faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds
